Can I just hop in on this conversation really quickly? Good.
Sally, that might be the best excuse for a fling that I’ve ever heard. Go for it.
Yeah…Pretty sure this is my cue to leave the conversation.

River threw her head back and laughed at that one. She smiled at Sam, attempting do be friendly but probably not coming across like that, “Ravenclaw, you said? I we’ll have some classes together than.”
Sam couldn’t help but smile as she laughed, wondering if she always stood so close to people. Judging by how relaxed and casual she was, it seemed like she did. “Could be we will. What house are you in?”
River tugged on her tie, “Slytherin. Don’t get scared though, I always ask before I bite.”
Raising his eyebrows, Sam was more surprised at her comment rather than at her House. Thinking about it, Sam wasn’t all that surprised she was in Slytherin. “Yeah, I’ll uh…keep that in mind.” He hesitated, not sure whether to ask before curiosity got the best of him, and Sam was unable to keep it out of his voice. “Hey…Is it true you can see the Giant Squid swimming around in the dormitory windows?”
I’m guessing me telling him he was good looking was not smart? Eh, life is short and he is hot.
Unless you want him getting in your pants? Not really. And…uh…that’s…Yeah. That’s my brother we’re talking about. I mean if you wanna hook up with him sure, just…Yeah, I just don’t really wanna hear the details.

Sam couldn’t help but smile at that, lips twitching upwards in amusement. “Not quite,” He managed to get in, before she waved the topic away. The smile almost vanished when she got close to him again though, and Sam resisted the urge to step back. “Yeah, uh…Kinda. Only a few inches really but…” Sam looked over himself, as if he didn’t do so every time someone commented on his height. He had grown into a pretty tall guy, and Sam really enjoyed towering over his brother now. And the occasional bully. “Hey, at least I don’t have to worry about anyone blocking my view in class or during Quidditch matches.”

Pleasure. Oh wait, you’re Dean’s brother!! Yeah, he’s been trying to get in my bed a lot lately. Any idea why?
Yeah…Where have I heard that one before? He’s uh…kinda an enthusiastic guy if y’know what I mean. Let’s just say his ego doesn’t need any more stroking.

And there it was, the question Sam knew would be asked. He heaved a sigh, lips pressing into what looked like a tight smile as he nodded. “Yeah, I do. Dean Winchester. Pretty sure you know him, one way or another…” Sam rolled his eyes, though not because he was annoyed at River or even at his brother, but because it was true. A lot of people knew Dean, one way or another as Sam had put it. And therefore a lot of people knew Sam, but really only as Dean’s kid brother. And Sam loved his brother, really, he did, but Dean could be a bit of an ass sometimes, and more than a little smug, so yeah, Sam would play the role of the little brother as often as he could, eye-rolling and name calling and all.
River smiled, “I knew it! He’s the loud Gryffindor, yes? What’s his name, Daniel, David?” she waved her hand dismissively, “that doesn’t matter. It still doesn’t explain how I’ve never met you before. I’m a fifth year too, you see.” She smiled again and stepped back into his personal space, “What, did you have a growth spurt over the summer?”
Sam couldn’t help but smile at that, lips twitching upwards in amusement. “Not quite,” He managed to get in, before she waved the topic away. Hey. Pretty sure I’ve seen you around a few times in the Ravenclaw dormitory. I’m Sam.

Sam nodded, eyebrows furrowing a little. “Yeah, actually, I am. Why, are you?” If she was, then she was right, they should have seen each other around before, even if only in passing. Hogwarts was big, but not that big. Sam relaxed a little as she eased away, his smile still a little forced but genuine all the same. “I’m Sam. Sam Winchester.”
“Winchester,” River said, letting the name roll off of her tongue, “You wouldn’t happen to have a brother, would you?”

“Well hello there, big boy,” River said, twisting a finger through her curls, “Why haven’t I seen you around these parts?”
Sam stared, a little taken aback. Big boy? It sounded like something he’d hear the girls in Dean’s pornos would say. “Uh…I’m…pretty sure I’m not in the same House as you, so that might be why.” He finally said, sounding confused and like he wasn’t sure how to go about responding to her. “I’m a Ravenclaw.”
“No no, that can’t be it. I’ve had classes with Ravenclaws before, I’m sure I would have seen you before…are you a fifth year?” River paused and stepped back out of the boy’s personal space. “Oh, silly me, I’m forgetting myself again. My name’s River Song. And you are…?”
Sam nodded, eyebrows furrowing a little. “Yeah, actually, I am. Why, are you?” If she was, then she was right, they should have seen each other around before, even if only in passing. Nice to meet you too. Ravenclaw, right? I am Amy by the way.
Yeah…Kinda the only one in the family. But I don’t mind, I’d rather be in here than Gryffindor anyway. And well, nice to meet you, Amy. What year’re you in?
